these are really beautiful

more ideas

Well I went to the salvage yard out on Maury St.....scary times!! I called before hand to see if I needed cash to buy some metal, and the guy did not sem to know what I was talking about, told me to come on down and look around. When I got there I received scary looks and did not find anything so hi-tailed it outa there! Then I went to Lowes and picked up some more rebar, have some in the shed, and a stell plate. Much easier going there!

Some more problems:
I am too sensitive
There is no where to park my car
i am  too short

I have been playing around with some sketches but am still pretty lost.

Not enough time in the day
Being too cold
Remembering things
Money
being far from my family

I really liked the video on Oliver Laric, I had no idea that all of the Disney movies are so similar....very creepy. It is so interesting how people repeat themselves so often and may be completely unawares.
I want my cast project to be a symbol for how repeating memories change over time, and how people will "clean them up" and start to forget all of the not so great things about a person. For me this is my grandma, while she was alive we constantly fought and agrivated each other. Now that she has been gone for a while I tend to only think of her in positive ways. I think everyone tends to do that, it just makes remembering easier.

George Kubler

Response to “The Shape of Time”

The idea in which I connected the most with was his idea of the manuscript draft by the replicated mass. The individuals completing the puzzle are having different experiences, are in different circumstances and cannot ever possibly make the puzzle exactly the same as the original.

I also could relate to his interpretation that prime objects are very much like prime numbers in that they cannot be broken down, the viewer does not see the parts of the whole, they do not know the how’s or the whys of the prime object.

The evolution of a prime object over time was also another relatable concept, nothing in history ever stays the same even if the maker is trying to exactly replicate something else.

Rainer Fetting

this is my power point on Fetting, we also discussed other artists such as: Andrew Gormley, Kiki Smith, Paul McCarthey, Mark Kostabi, Keith Haring, Jeff Koons, Ryan Trecartin, Jun Kaneko and Jason de Claires Taylor. I enjoyed de Claires Taylor's work the best, it was very enchanting and seemed almost magical, even though some may think it is cliche. My least favrite was McCarthey, I did not enjoy his work, alothough I can respect him.

casting

For this castign project I want to incorporate a head, pitcher and water. I want the piece to feel organic and interesting.

work on project 2

i originally bought 6 glass sheets to use instead of the filters....then i remembered that i have not cut glass in over 6 years... i need another lesson. i realized that if i want all of the pieces to be precie then glass was not gonna do it for me. the only problem i am having thus far is that he filters are way too flimsy!

some jewelry

i had fun making these, very relaxing

progress

from my garden

architectual inspiration- "New Museums"

This is the Guggenheim in Spain by Frank Gehry- BEAUTIFUL!!
this is the De Verbeelding art pavillion by Rene van Zuuk Architects.
I like how the curve cuts off and only one half of the building continues on.

This is the Makino Museum of Plants and People by Hiroshi Natio.
This is Volcania: Parc Europeen du Volcanisme by Hans Hollein. very graceful and eye-catching

architectual inspiration- "Here Comes the Sun"

this is a German hospital by Thomas Tait. I enjoy the curving balconies.
This is a housing estate in Amsterdam created by M. De Klerk and P.L. Kramer
This is by architect Captain F. Latham, I love the long flowing line of the edge, very graceful

architectual inspiration

These pictures are from the book "Next House." The pictures are from architects Ben van Berkel and Caroline Bos. I love the flowing design of the house as well as the massive glass exterior. I am a bit obsessed with reflections, i love that not only are there reflections in the glass, but also in the pool next to the house.

corbusier

I would love to know what tings sound like to animals; if that ever is a capability of man I will be very happy. It is also strange to read something from when aviation was just taking shape…technology has come so far!
It is interesting that in ancient times people used parts of their body to measure things, were people not different sizes? I understand that even today tings such as the inch are almost exactly the same distance between knuckles, but again, everyone is different.
I enjoyed when Corbusier was discussing how space is what defines architecture, painting, and sculpture. I love the idea of focusing on negative and positive space.

Abbott Edwins

Edwins discussion of the “Flatlands” reminds me very much of a gated community from a time when women were still considered below the men, or at least not equal. His talk of objects getting flatter as you get down to their level is a funny idea. I also like that humans are only 11 inches tall, makes me feel HUGE!! It is also strange that the soldiers in their land are considered the lowest class of people, odd. It is very reminiscent of the caste system in the East.
I like how e goes on to talk about how people approach each other and that his father comes up to him and speaks to him standing at his side, and the man is at first not sure whether he is talking to his father or a woman.

building ideas

i have been fooling around with some different ideas for what i would like to do for my building. i know that i want the building to have a very flowing, organic feel.
these are some ideas i ran through when trying to come up with exactly how i wanted to represent my measurement in wood

measurement

hard to read but these are some notes that i have been making in my sketch book on the unit of measurement.
